About Mike

Over the past several years, I have performed extensively across the UK and internationally in a wide range of productions. Most recently, I have been involved in several major live concert tours for Senbla, including The Holiday in Concert, Twilight Live in Concert, and Disney’s The Sound of Magic, performing alongside full orchestras while accompanying large-scale cinematic productions.

I have held chair-holder positions for productions including La Bamba The Musical on both its UK tour and West End debut, as well as Midnight Cowboy at Southwark Playhouse. I worked as a dep guitarist for Choir of Man in London’s West End and performed in seasonal productions such as Aladdin in Portsmouth.

Alongside theatre work, I have extensive cruise ship experience, having worked on P&O Cruises as part of onboard backing bands covering genres including rock, pop, funk, soul, Latin, and country music. Previously, I spent two years as an orchestra guitarist with Saga Cruises, accompanying theatre productions, ballroom dance sessions, jazz ensembles, and guest entertainers.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a freelance guitar teacher for both Bruce Music and Forte Arts, teaching students of all ages and abilities across London. This helped develop my communication skills, patience, and ability to tailor my approach to different individuals and musical styles.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Popular Music Performance from BIMM London and pride myself on being a reliable, adaptable, and collaborative musician with strong sight-reading skills and experience across acoustic, electric, flamenco, and traditional guitar styles.

About the lesson

Lessons ideally last an hour but can also be half an hour if desired. I lean on real world experience when teaching students as I have worked in most musical situations in the last 16 years. From musical theatre pit work, to studio work, cruise ships, festivals and good old pub gigs. In my experience of teaching through the years I know that every student learns in slightly different ways so will always endeavour to find a method or approach that suits your needs and helps you get the most out of our lessons.
