As a high school AP Biology teacher, I emphasize conceptual understanding, application, and critical thinking. I use inquiry-based instruction, real-world case studies, and active learning strategies to engage students beyond memorization. Lessons integrate visual aids, interactive models, and formative assessments like low-stakes quizzes and exit tickets to continuously guide instruction. A standard 60–90 minute lesson follows this structure:
Warm-Up / Do Now: A quick review or thought-provoking question tied to the day’s objective.
Mini-Lecture / Direct Instruction: 10–15 minutes of focused content delivery using diagrams, real-world examples, and guiding questions.
Guided Practice / Activity: Labs, simulations, data analysis, or practice with FRQs (Free-Response Questions).
