Struggling in school does not mean a student isn’t capable. It often just means they haven’t been taught in a way that works for them yet.

Many students quietly carry frustration, embarrassment, or self-doubt when it comes to reading, writing, or test preparation. Over time, that frustration can turn into avoidance — unfinished essays, rushed assignments, low confidence during exams, or the belief that they’re “just not good at English.”

My role is to change that narrative.

Every lesson begins with understanding. Before we focus on improvement, we focus on clarity — where the student currently stands, what feels challenging, and what their goals are. Whether the goal is raising grades, preparing for the SAT, improving essay structure, strengthening reading comprehension, or simply feeling more confident in class, lessons are designed to meet the student exactly where they are.

I begin with an informal skill check and conversation to identify:
- Strengths
- Areas of confusion
- Gaps in foundational skills
- Test-taking habits (for SAT students)
- Writing structure and organization patterns

From there, sessions are structured and intentional.

For Reading Support:
We focus on comprehension strategies, identifying main ideas, analyzing passages, improving vocabulary in context, and developing critical thinking skills. Students learn how to approach texts with clarity rather than overwhelm.

For Writing & Essay Development:
We break down writing into manageable steps — brainstorming, outlining, thesis development, paragraph structure, transitions, grammar, and revision strategies. Students are taught how to organize their thoughts clearly and write with confidence.

For SAT Reading & Writing Prep:
Lessons include targeted strategy instruction, timed practice, passage analysis, question breakdown techniques, grammar rules review, and error pattern correction. The focus is not just practice — it’s understanding how the test works and how to approach it strategically.

Each session includes:
- A short check-in and goal alignment
- Direct instruction tailored to current needs
- Guided practice with real-time feedback
- Strategy reinforcement
- Clear next steps or practice assignments (if appropriate)

Progress is tracked thoughtfully and consistently. Students leave sessions knowing what they improved and what they are working toward next.

Above all, lessons are patient, structured, and supportive. I believe students thrive when they feel safe asking questions and supported while building skills. Struggling is not a weakness — it’s a starting point.

With the right guidance and strategy, improvement is absolutely possible.

My goal is not just better grades or higher test scores — it is helping students build lasting academic confidence and the skills to succeed independently.

My Teaching Approach

Every student learns differently — and that’s okay.

Before we begin, we take time to understand where you or your child is right now and where you want to go. Together, we build a plan that meets you where you are and helps you grow with structure, patience, and encouragement.

In a typical lesson, we focus on:
- A supportive check-in
- Targeted instruction & guided practice
- Real-time feedback
- Strategy building and confidence growth
- Clear progress markers

I teach in a way that makes sense, not in a way that feels frustrating or overwhelming. You’re welcome to ask questions without fear, take your time with challenging material, and grow at your own pace — because learning isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress.

Why This Works
- Learning in a one-on-one setting allows us to:
- Expand on what your child already understands
- Slow down in areas that feel confusing
- Practice skills confidently
- Build lasting academic independence
- Turn “I don’t get it” into “Oh — now I do!”

You don’t have to struggle alone. With the right support, every student can succeed and feel confident in their academic journey.

Who My Lessons Are For
- Teens preparing for important exams
- Students needing targeted support or confidence building

Learning is for every type of mind, and everyone deserves a safe space to grow.
