About Grace
Teaching has always been driven by my passion for helping people overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their goals. With over 30 years' experience teaching English in the UK and overseas, I have worked with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and ages.
For the past 14 years, I have been an ESOL and English tutor at a Further Education College in Halifax, delivering Functional Skills and ESOL qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2. I have extensive experience supporting SEND learners and have developed effective, empathetic approaches that help students feel valued, motivated, and capable of success.
Alongside my college role, I have successfully tutored students privately, helping them prepare for GCSE English and other examinations. I pride myself on creating lessons that are tailored to individual needs, combining professionalism with a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Students often describe my lessons as engaging, enjoyable, and productive.
I am a caring, approachable, and organised tutor who genuinely enjoys helping learners develop their skills, confidence, and independence. From 31 August, I will be reducing my college hours and will have increased availability for private tuition.

My lessons are tailored to individual needs and delivered in a supportive, engaging, and professional environment. A typical lesson includes a starter activity to review prior learning, clear SMART learning outcomes, focused teaching and practice activities, regular assessment for learning, and a plenary to check progress. Homework is set where appropriate to reinforce learning and support continued progress.
Students describe my teaching as friendly, motivating, and productive. I am passionate about helping learners overcome barriers, develop confidence, and achieve their academic and personal goals.
