I operate an attentive and direct method of teaching, where we would begin with a broad overview of the topic and then proceed to investigate the more minute details of what needs to be learnt. From prior experience, I have adapted my tutoring style to suit the specific needs of the student, and am willing to be flexible in the way I approach a subject so that they gain a full understanding of the relevant topic area.
I served as the Access Rep on the Junior Common Room Committee at University, which involved much teaching experience as part of the Access programme organised by my college. I have primarily had experience of teaching AS Level students on topics such as heroes and villains in Old English literature and gender roles in English Renaissance drama. Many of these students have gone on to receive offers from prestigious universities, including Oxbridge. Although I have not had significant experience in teaching younger years, I feel that the experiences I have had will enable me to adapt my tutoring style to those at earlier stages in their academic careers.
