About Emily
I have a real passion for history, having absolutely enjoyed studying it at university. This passion is where my desire to teach came from; I wish to inspire others to learn about history and aspire to careers in the field.
I have found real reward in my time working in secondary schools, especially teaching students with SEN and low literacy and helping them to access the curriculum. I aim to inspire self confidence in all of my students, and I have maintained consistent positive professional relationships with students I have taught in the secondary environment.
Many of the skills that I have developed as a classroom teacher can be easily transferred into the 1-to-1 setting. I am really passionate about helping all students achieve the best that they possibly can, which is why I have opted to tutor individual students.

I take a personalised approach to teaching, focusing on the prior knowledge, strengths and areas for improvement in all students. I use research informed practice, drawing upon cognitive load theory, the Rosenshein Principles and specialist research into history teaching.
I am in the final weeks of completing my PGCE in Secondary History education (11-18), having benefitted from extensive university training and 9 months of secondary teaching experience.
My lessons are primarily for KS3 and KS4, however I have a high knowledge of Alevel topics and am more than happy to provide tutoring for Alevel exams.
