About Victoria

HI I'm Dr Victoria Witkowski! I'm a British University Lecturer/Researcher with a Ph.D and Masters in History (European University Institute, Florence) and BA (Hons) Degree (University of Nottingham). I have 5 years of experience of teaching and tutoring at all levels: primary school children to university students. I have a Teacher Training Certificate in Higher Education and EDI Pedagogy. I TEACH: - History (university level and below - thesis help/applications, A Levels, GCSE, secondary and primary school) - English as a foreign language (exam prep: TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge exams all levels) - General Humanities (geography, politics, philosophy etc.....A levels and below) - History of Art (undergraduate level, A Levels) - Italian as a foreign language (all levels) STUDENT REVIEWS (anon): - 'The instructor was an extremely good teacher, who was well read on the subject and extremely approachable and helpful' - 'I enjoyed this course a lot, I thought it was taught well in a style that made learning the material easy' - 'Very good, and very understanding. About the lesson

I am a native English speaker (from London) bilingual in Italian and I have experience teaching in person/online to children and adults of all ages. EXPERIENCE University teaching experience: - History course (undergraduate): 'Italian Fascism and Global Responses', Italian Studies Department, University of Toronto. - History course (undergraduate): 'The Fascist Playbook: from Futurism to the Present', University of Syracuse. - These courses covered 19th and 20th century political, social and cultural (visual) history: European fascism, nazism, communism, colonialism, World War I, World War II, decolonisation, postcolonialism, international relations. Tutoring experience: - English as a foreign language (exam prep detailed above) in person and online, individually and in group settings, age range: 3-70. - Academic writing for exams, essays (school and university level) and university applications. I am a peer-reviewed writer, editor translator and reviewer, for academic journals, blogs and public history initiatives. - Italian as a foreign language. Other courses: - Italian Cultural Heritage Course - the survey course focused on the history and culture of Italian food, fashion, sport and other popular topics dating from the Ancient Roman Republic to present-day. TEACHING APPROACH - I am professional, approachable and open-minded in all my classrooms to foster a comfortable and respectful learning environment. - My teaching approach encourages student-centred learning for enhanced comprehension and active student participation to achieve optimal results. - I will patiently support you in your studies and equip you with the skills required to confidently reach your academic goals and future success.
