About Jaxx

'Queer, trans-nonbinary, mentally ill, neurodivergent single parent' is a sentence that can pretty much sum up the entirety of my personal life. My three year old daughter is my world, and I delight in every aspect of her existence.
My biggest passion in this world is education in all of its facets: learning, discovering, understanding, helping others to learn and discover and understand the world.
My greatest ambition in life at the moment is to be a teacher that changes what learning means for their students, transforming it into this exciting, thrilling set of experiences that incites wonder and produces critically thinking humans that want to question every part of their world to understand it all.

I am incredibly passionate in my current studies about child psychology and development, specifically relating to neurodivergence and the individual nature of the learning experience and construction of knowledge. I believe in working with students as an assistant of this construction, and featuring the knowledge, experiences, and interests they bring with them to my learning environments heavily in that construction.

About the lesson

Primary Ages: All subject areas
Lower Secondary: English, Human Society and Environment and Physical Health, Development, and Physical Education Studies
Upper Secondary/ATAR: English, Modern and Ancient History
I also offer for all age groups and year levels assistance and support with general educational capabilities including writing skills, assignment support and understanding, and study skills and scheduling, as well as targeted supports for neurodivergence and learning difficulties including dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD.

As someone who has learned to build effective and successful study habits by understanding, harnessing, and utilising my own dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD, as well as learning to work around mental health and time constraints with regards to studying, I advocate for highly individualistic and personalised learning environments and strategies, and a high level of metacognition and involvement of students in the construction of their tutoring schedules and strategies

The services I can offer include:
- In person tutoring (minimum one hour sessions, charged per session)
- Online dedicated text chat tutoring (minimum half hour sessions, charged per session)
- Ongoing email tutoring support (no minimum or maximum contact requirements, 24/7 ability to contact and replies/support during specified 'business hours', charged weekly rate)
- Group tutoring (in any of the formats above, charged per session at a reduced rate per student)

I offer bundled deals and reduced rates for group tutoring, for multiple family members requiring tutoring, and for students wishing to employ multiple of my services, multiple sessions a week, and/or tutoring for multiple subjects.

I'm also super flexible with the support I provide, so if there is something outside of the above that would work better for you, I would love to work with you and your individual circumstances to find a great solution and tutoring program!

Details

Base Rate: $20/hr for hour-long or more sessions of any form, $15 for half hour text-based sessions.

Bundles: Book group tutoring for 10% off total session price; book multiple sessions in a week for 5% off each session; book sessions for multiple subjects for 15% off each session.

Additional service: access to 24/7 email assistance with replies being in negotiated 'business hours' for a flat $40/week
