About Ellie

I am currently moving into my sophomore year after the summer of 2023 at Emerson College in the Media Arts Production program as a film student. I live in Seattle, was born and raised, and love to be a busy bee– you can often find me making a spontaneous movie, jumping into the nearest lake, writing a novella on my porch, or stopping every two seconds to pet the next dog on the street.

In terms of my work with kids, I have been babysitting since I was twelve years old and have spent a summer as an Assistant Camp Counselor at Illumination Learning Studio in Greenwood and Ballard. I loved helping the kids with their artsy sides and getting outside in the summer, and am now hoping to zone in more on that academic help this coming summer to get some more experience one-on-one, like in babysitting.

I also love to work with older ranges, including middle and high school. I tend to be very flexible with all ages and love to connect with any student. :)

I have really enjoyed helping kids and high school students before with their studies and would like to move into a more professional and routine aspect of it. After years of great experience with all different ages, I believe I have the resources, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills to provide students with not just what they need, but what they want in a tutor. I am excited to start working with these kids and eager to offer something new to the table– or more-so, their desks. :)

For most of my life, I've been working with kids. I have learned the importance of patience, friendliness, and the connection needed to become a friend to those who need a helping hand or even just a smile. I love to help kids when it comes to their studies and often try to make things fun to ultimately succeed in a more effective lesson. I also have loved to help high school students in subjects I am passionate about and assist them in healthy study habits and classroom test prep.

My typical teaching techniques include taking things step by step and providing examples; I often like to step back for a moment and look at the bigger picture before diving in to get an idea of where the student's mindset is at. I love to explore the creative sides of things and get the juices flowing when it comes to writing, and my history crash courses are usually a source of laughter and learning. I believe that there is always a fun side to everything. As your tutor, I can promise that I will provide a connection with you or your child that is more of a friend, and less of a superior. It's crucial to meet at their level and not look down upon them when teaching.

I am offering lessons for grade levels ranging from elementary to early high school, with subjects including English, Writing, and History. If you or your child would like to explore support in other subjects relating to areas in these studies, I'd be more than happy to explore that as well.
