About Dewey
Hey there, my name is Dewey, I am qualified with an honors degree in Math and Economics at UL and a master's in Computational Finance. For the past five years, I have been working in the finance industry. I enjoy teaching math and have received good feedback from students I taught in the past. I believe that each student is different. Each student responds better to a specific method of teaching and has a preferred style. Therefore, in the first couple of grinds, I normally attempt to identify the best method and then continue on with it. This could be anything from covering what the teacher covered in class that week to going through exam papers. The first lesson or two is normally quite slow, and we ease our way into them, to make sure the foundation of every concept is well understood. If the student feels that the pace is too slow, we speed up but remain at a tempo that's comfortable. Once the student has a good understanding, then I would go through example questions. My approach to junior certs and leaving certs is slightly different. Leaving cert students tend to have a much better idea of how they best learn, and this is greatly factored into how the lessons are done. Junior certs often need more guidance.
