About Emily
I believe many students struggle with writing and not feeling confident in their pieces. Each paper is great in its own way. I will reassure students that not every paper will be perfect the first time and as a student I can assure you that you are not alone.

I like to give my students creative writing activities to dive into their imagination like a warmup for their following assignment. A typical lesson plan for me is a writing warmup around one to two paragraphs. Then I would look through their assignment and see where their creativity takes them to complete such assignment creating a rough draft. I prefer no computers because I believe a pen to paper for a rough draft truly shows the child's creativity unfold. My specialty is teaching kids who are in the 5-8 grade. I used to struggle with my writing as a child so much so I dreaded it as a kid because I felt like my essays had to be perfect with the first draft until I met another teacher who taught me to love it. My favorite motto is write what you know and revise later.
