About Thandiwe
I’m a published writer and essayist with work featured in over a dozen international magazines and journals, and I’ve exhibited work internationally. I am currently continuing my studies in writing at NYU.
As a tutor, I offer clear, structured, and thoughtful guidance tailored to each student’s goals. My approach combines close reading, direct feedback, and practical revision strategies so you not only improve a single piece, but also develop skills you can apply to become a writer. I can also offer connections in the writing industry as well.
I take professionalism seriously; sessions are focused, prepared, and respectful of your time. You can expect honest, constructive feedback delivered in a way that is both rigorous and supportive.
Whether you’re working on academic writing, personal essays, or fiction, I aim to help you gain confidence in your voice and produce work that feels intentional, polished, and fully your own.

My approach is direct, intuitive, and centered on developing the writer rather than rigid rules. I can help you understand what your work is actually doing, where it’s holding back, where it’s strongest, and how to push it further with intention.
In a typical session, we focus on your work. This might mean reading and discussing a draft, identifying what’s not working, restructuring sections, or going line by line to refine language, tone, and rhythm. If you’re earlier in the process, we develop ideas together and build something solid from the start.
What sets me apart is that I treat your writing seriously. I’m not interested in surface-level edits or generic advice. I give honest, specific feedback that helps you grow, while still protecting what’s unique about your voice.
These lessons are for anyone working on essays, fiction, or creative nonfiction, whether you’re a student, an emerging writer, or someone returning to writing and wanting to improve with focused, thoughtful guidance.
