About Meerab

Hi! I'm Meerab, an Accounting and Finance student at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, with a passion for Business, Accounting, Marketing, and entrepreneurship.

I achieved an A in A-Level Business and 1 A* and 7 As in my O-Levels. But what makes my background a little different is that I haven't just studied business — I've had opportunities to experience it firsthand.

I've worked in brand strategy and digital marketing at Al Jannat Sweets, where I started as a marketing intern and progressed into a brand strategy role. I've worked on understanding customer behavior, developing marketing campaigns, creating content, and exploring how brands can stand out in competitive markets.

I've also led a team of five content creators at The Progressive Talk and contributed to marketing initiatives at IBA's Film & Media Club, including content that reached over 300,000 views.

Beyond these experiences, I've been involved in helping with a family business and am currently working on building my own venture. These experiences have given me a growing appreciation for the challenges businesses face, from attracting customers and managing resources to making strategic and financial decisions.

And that's what makes teaching these subjects so exciting to me!

When I study a business concept, I don't just see a definition in a textbook. I think about how it works in practice, where I've encountered it, and how I would explain it to someone who has never studied business before.

I've also spent over four years informally helping friends and classmates prepare for examinations, understand difficult concepts, and develop better study habits.

Interestingly, I wasn't always someone who found studying easy. I struggled with traditional teaching methods that emphasized memorization over understanding. Over time, I developed my own approach to learning, built around curiosity, logical reasoning, and making connections between ideas.

That experience is a big part of why I enjoy helping others learn.

Outside academics, I'm interested in psychology, reading, creative thinking, and understanding why people make the decisions they do — interests that often connect back to Business and Marketing.

I would describe myself as patient, approachable, curious, and someone who genuinely enjoys a good discussion. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, challenging ideas, and admitting when something doesn't make sense.

I believe a good tutor should do more than explain a chapter. They should help students become confident enough to think independently and apply what they've learned.

Whether you're studying Business, trying to understand Accounting, or exploring Marketing for the first time, I hope to make your learning experience a little more interesting, a lot more understandable, and genuinely worthwhile.

Have you ever wondered why people are willing to pay more for an iPhone, why some businesses make millions in sales but still struggle financially, or why certain marketing campaigns work while others fail?

These are the kinds of questions I love exploring, because Business, Accounting, and Marketing aren't just subjects we study. They're happening all around us!

MY TEACHING APPROACH

Having experienced the frustration of rote learning myself, I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a concept rather than simply memorizing information.

My lessons are interactive, practical, and tailored to each student's needs.

Here's what you can expect:

1. Real-World Examples: Instead of simply memorizing the 4 Ps of Marketing, we'll examine how brands like Nike and Apple actually use them. When studying financial statements, we'll explore what the numbers reveal about a business and why they matter.

2. Step-by-Step Learning: Whether it's understanding business strategy, preparing journal entries, or analyzing consumer behavior, I'll break complicated concepts into smaller, manageable steps.

3. Active Recall and Practice: I use questioning, self-testing, case studies, past-paper questions, and the Feynman Technique to help students understand concepts and retain information.

4. Critical Thinking: I encourage students to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and develop their own reasoning. For example, rather than simply defining a pricing strategy, we'll discuss when it works, why it might fail, and what alternatives a business could consider.

5. Personalized Learning: Every student has different strengths and challenges. I adjust my explanations, pace, and activities according to your academic level, curriculum, and learning goals.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL LESSON LOOK LIKE?

My lessons are typically 60 minutes long.

We'll begin with a quick discussion or recap to identify what you already understand and where you need support.

Next, we'll explore the topic using clear explanations, relatable examples, diagrams, calculations, or real business scenarios.

We'll then apply what we've learned through practice questions, case studies, accounting exercises, or exam-style problems.

Finally, we'll finish with a short active-recall exercise to reinforce key concepts and identify anything we should revisit.

SUBJECTS AND LEVELS

Business Studies:
O-Level, IGCSE, AS-Level, A-Level, and introductory university concepts. Topics include business objectives, organizational structures, operations, finance, human resources, marketing, and case-study analysis.

Accounting:
O-Level, IGCSE, and foundational accounting. Topics include double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, ledgers, trial balances, financial statements, adjustments, and basic financial analysis.

Marketing:
Beginners and introductory university-level students. Topics include the marketing mix, branding, consumer behavior, market segmentation, targeting, positioning, digital marketing, and marketing strategy.

I also welcome aspiring entrepreneurs who want to understand the fundamentals of running and marketing a business.

MY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

I'm currently pursuing a degree in Accounting and Finance at IBA Karachi and achieved an A in A-Level Business.

I have over four years of informal peer-tutoring experience, beginning in 2022, helping classmates understand concepts and prepare for examinations.

Beyond academics, I've worked in brand strategy and digital marketing, led creative teams, contributed to marketing campaigns, and gained practical exposure to business operations. I'm also working on developing my own business venture.

WHAT MAKES MY LESSONS DIFFERENT?

I don't want you to simply memorize what market segmentation means. I want you to look at a brand and recognize exactly who it's targeting and why.

I don't want you to just prepare a balance sheet. I want you to understand what it tells you about a company's financial health.

And I don't want you to memorize entire Business chapters only to forget them after an exam.

My goal is to help you understand what you're learning, apply it confidently, and develop skills that stay with you beyond the classroom.
