About Guy
I’m Guy, new to this site, but I’ve been teaching English since 2011 – I’ve always loved the English language, and really enjoy seeing students progress! I did the CELTA course in Brighton, UK, and my first job was teaching at a language school in central London, mainly teenagers and young adults. I was then able to pursue my dream of working in Switzerland at a language school, teaching everyone from beginners to high-level business English, private students and groups, in companies and in the school. Returning to the UK in 2019, I am now self-employed and teach a mixture of 11+ pupils, mainly preparing for independent schools in the London area, and IELTS students, both online and face-to-face. Firstly I like to identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses, then build a systematic and structured timetable around those, using a wide variety of teaching materials, as appropriate to the student’s needs. Having extensive experience of the examiners’ requirements and marking schemes, I analyse and provide detailed feedback on all written work. Guy really helped my son Max with his 11+ English, as well as his VR and interview. Guy is very easy to get on with, and Max enjoyed his lessons. Guy quickly found Max’s problem areas in the English paper, and found specific exercises for further practice. He thoroughly prepared Max for the interview, leaving nothing to chance, and oversaw VR final practice.
Guy is the best English tutor I had. He is always well prepared and his lessons are interesting and carefully planned. His feedback and marking is like on the real IELTS exam. Highly recommended!
