About Roger
I am a self-taught English National Master currently rated 2304 ECF and 2206 FIDE at classical time controls and 2380 ECF at rapid. I have maintained a 2200+ ECF rating for more than a decade, and am currently rated 19th in England at 30 minute chess. I have been coaching professionally for five years.

For experienced adult players (1300+) I specialise in paying attention to the student's weaknesses by analysing a sample of their games. From this, I then devise a programme of improvement for the student that (ideally) gives them greater opportunity to become a well-rounded player. Players whose capacity for rapid learning is often inhibited by psychological resistance to change are encouraged to abandon their faith in easy solutions to their own stagnation. General services I offer include: Showing students how to properly analyse their own games for themselves. Teaching them how to properly learn their own chosen openings. Creating learning aides (studies) to help students away from the lesson.
