About Yaya
I am a certified educator with teaching credentials in both Ontario and Alberta, holding a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and a background in International Relations. I bring formal training in instructional design, assessment, and differentiated teaching aligned with current curriculum standards.
I currently work as an Occupational Supply Teacher with the Peel District School Board, delivering engaging instruction in History, English, and ESL at the intermediate and senior levels. My teaching focuses on essay writing, critical thinking, and historical analysis, with structured support to improve clarity, argumentation, and academic performance.
Previously, I worked as an Educational Assistant, supporting students with diverse academic and behavioral needs, including English Language Learners and students with individualized education plans. This experience has strengthened my ability to adapt lessons, provide targeted support, and create inclusive, student-centered learning environments.
My approach is highly personalized—I assess each student’s strengths and challenges, then tailor lessons to address specific problem areas while building confidence and independence. I combine structured learning with engaging methods such as guided practice, discussion, and interactive review to ensure students not only improve their grades but truly understand the material.

I am a passionate tutor with experience teaching History and English in both Alberta and Ontario. Having worked in student support—both behavioural and academic—I’m highly attuned to students’ individual needs. I tailor each lesson to target problem areas and key topics while creating a supportive space where students feel heard and confident expressing themselves.
