About Consuelo

Hi! I’m Consuelo — I’m from Chile, and I’ve been living in the UK for the past six years. I’m currently doing a PhD in Latin American Studies, and when I’m not teaching or studying, you’ll probably find me surrounded by plants, books, and a good cup of coffee. I’ve always loved languages. I actually learnt English mostly on my own, driven by pure curiosity and passion — and, honestly, by watching tons of movies, listening to music, and spending hours online. Pop culture helped me connect with the language in a real and natural way, and that’s exactly the kind of experience I love creating for my Spanish students. I’m a big believer that learning a language isn’t just about grammar — it’s about understanding people, stories, and culture. That’s why I try to bring that same mix of curiosity and creativity into everything I do, both as a teacher and as a researcher.

About the lesson

Learning Spanish shouldn’t feel like a chore — it should feel alive. My lessons are one-hour sessions built around your goals, interests, and real-world use of the language. Whether you want to sound more natural when you speak, strengthen your grammar, or dive into Latin American culture, I’ll adapt every class to you. These lessons are aimed at students who already have some basic understanding of Spanish but want to take it further — to speak with confidence, fluency, and cultural awareness. I’m a native Spanish speaker from Chile and a PhD student in Latin American Studies in the UK. I’ve spent over 5 years teaching languages — including English to Spanish speakers — and more than 3 years as a university teaching assistant. That mix of academic and practical experience helps me make learning clear, effective, and genuinely enjoyable. In my classes, we often use pop culture — songs, films, memes, and social media — to explore how Spanish really works in everyday life. I want you to feel the language, not just memorise it. I’m patient, open-minded, and passionate about helping you find your voice in Spanish. Every lesson is a space to experiment, make mistakes, and grow confidently.
