About Markus
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I am an English, French, Italian, German and Latin teacher, who moved to Ireland in 2021.
I am 47 years old, highly motivated and originally come from Hamburg, Germany, thus German is my native language.
Before I was a teacher at public schools in Germany, I joined the German army (Bundeswehr) and there I got in contact with different approaches to teaching, especially for adults.
From 2004 to 2009 I studied English, French and Italian at the university in Kiel (State's Exam, similar to Master's Degree); afterwards, I taught at different public schools (Gymnasium) near Hamburg and in the Ruhr area (Essen and Mülheim-on-Ruhr).
Teaching has always been my passion and I really love to "transmit" my passion for languages to young people willing to improve their knowledge.
Foreign languages are the key to our globalised world and - as Charles Dickens once said - a little key can even open a very heavy door.
I teach all competences (reading, listening, speaking and writing as well as mediation); in my lessons the wishes and demands of my clients always come first to prepare them for their different goals (exams, certicficates, class tests, etc.).

Here I offer grinds and language lessons for all ages and levels in English, French and Italian (studied) as well as for German (native language) and Latin.
I am 47 years old, I was a language teacher at different schools (Gymnasium) in germany and I am recently a self-employed language teacher from County Longford, Ireland.
I offer lessons through Skype or nearby face-to-face (in the area Longford/Roscommon/Leitrim/Westmeath).
My approach is based on three major columns:
1. Speaking and listening through Skype (shared screen)
2. Reading ans writing (as well as mediation) through mail and GoogleDocs
3. "Virtual Blackboard" on GoogleDocsIt is important to me that all lessons are individually tailored according to the needs and demands of the clients to assure highest satisfaction on either side and to achieve the best results.
Of course, humour and addressing the pupil with regards to the age play an integral role in my lessons.
I have got a university degree (State's Exam, comparable to Master's Degree in English, French and Italian) and German is my native language.
My lessons are all 60 minutes long, normally people decide to choose a double lesson per week because this is more effective and then we can go more into details, make more adequate exercises and - according to pedagogical norms and rules - the process of learning can advance in a sort of "wave": easy speaking - explaining - training -easy speaking,most of the time embedded into senseful context and traceable as well as natural situations.
It is my aim to achieve together with my students a profound knowledge in the language taught that can be used in many situations, not only for the next class test or the leaving certificate. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact me for further details.
