About James
I attended Latymer Upper School between 2005 and 2012. I therefore have first-hand experience of the competitive process for entry into a top independent London school. I have an in-depth knowledge of the different examination procedures at different schools. I also worked full-time for a year at Latymer. While there, I led classes for 13 to 18-year-olds in essay-based subjects. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of York with a First Class Honours in English and Related Literature. I have prepared many students for their GCSE examinations. I am happy to work with all levels and take great joy in watching a student become more confident. I taught in a comprehensive in Holloway for two years supporting the English and Maths departments with catch-up tuition. I always emphasise the importance of maintaining a clear head when learning in order to truly understand the work. I am confident that I can guide students in order to improve their learning and also pass exams. Deadly! Our 11+ Hero
I found James on this site just before Christmas 2016 as my son needed a some re-capping and an extra boost of confidence before going through 11+ exams. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. James is a charming gentleman with a polite and calm demeanor. He didn't just make my son feel more confident but also gave him extra hints and useful tips beyond the text books. He went through every subject and helped fix the problem areas that he was still struggling in. James helped my son enormously with literacy, creative writing, comprehension and the hardest math problems. James established a rapport with my son from the first lesson that helped him feel at ease and motivated during the session.
I will use him again in the future and highly recommend him.
