About Ines

I am a professional, reliable and highly experienced native teacher and examiner of Spanish who is passionate about learning and teaching languages.

Originally from Spain, I have lived in the UK for 25 years, where I have taught Spanish as a second language in various settings, such as in-company language training; private tutoring and secondary schools, where my last role was Deputy Head of the Language Department in an Ofsted "Outstanding" college.

I am educated to Masters level (MA Translation), I hold a PGCE MFL by Sussex University, I am a QTS and I have the NPQLT by UCL (Leading Teaching).

In my long career, I have planned full courses, schemes of work, developed resources, taught all levels and ages (2-82!), and helped hundreds of students prepare and successfully pass their GCSE exams. Furthermore, I like to keep up with the latest pedagogical approaches and developments in language teaching, so my students get the best resources and methodology there are.

I believe everyone can learn a language and I am here to support your learning journey.

About the lesson

My lessons are highly personalised and designed with each student in mind. Every aspect is focused on making sure individual learners progress and fulfil their potential respecting their pace and learning style. I am a specialist in GCSE teaching and support, but have experience teaching all kinds of levels, A Level students included.

In my lessons, focus is given to different areas depending on students' needs, such as:

- building up confidence for the speaking exam.
-pronunciation and fluency (native Castilian Spanish).
-simplifying and clarifying different aspects of tricky grammar.
- consolidating vocabulary.
-dictation and listening practice.
-general exam technique and practice.

Having extensive experience as a full-time classroom teacher, enables me to provide handy tips and advice, so that my students feel fully confident when tackling the exam. Whether you are looking to get top marks or you are struggling with certain aspects of the exam, I can help.

I am familiar with the syllabus of the 2024 GCSE exam (Edexcel and AQA) and experience conducting and marking speaking exams. I enjoy keeping up with the latest pedagogy and use different approaches depending on the kind of learner I am teaching. A variety of methods in a relaxed, calm environment brings great results.

Lessons usually last 60 minutes, but more intensive lessons are also available, should students prefer longer, more frequent sessions.
