About Sophia
Hi there! My name's Sophia and I have a love for anything English (though we'll still get along if you don't) as well as a love for teaching, especially high-school kids, as I know how demanding school life can be. In particular, I can offer tips and tricks in poetry and other literary analysis, comparative essays, oral projects, and general essay writing. I would love to be someone who can offer reassurance and inspire confidence in you, as well as share my knowledge. My expertise lies in the IB Programme (though I offer lessons to students in all curriculums), and this means I know what the stress and demands of high-school academics can be like. I hope I can be both professional, valuable, and supportive, as well as a kind face to see during stressful essay-writing projects and exam prep time!

Hi there! My name's Sophia and I'm a recently graduated (2024) high-school student. I did the IB Diploma Programme from 2022-2024 and would love to help out current IB students with some insightful tips into IB English Literature, which I completed at HL and scored a 7 in. I can also help out with IB HL Biology. I have extensive experience as a volunteer teacher (including a three-month full-time teaching period) in both English and the sciences, and really enjoy giving clear and thorough explanations to students.
Though my experience is in the IB, I am happy to help high-school students of all curriculums.
My techniques will be catered to you as I learn more about you and your personal needs. I offer print-outs, exercises when helpful, and detailed analysis of any of your work, of course. I enjoy an engaging, conversational and student-led approach to teaching where text-analysis and essay writing becomes inspiring problem-solving. I know English can be difficult, so can take both a creative, intuitive approach to it and a logical, linear approach, depending on how your brain works!
Note that I am also happy to help with IB English Extended Essays as I completed mine in the English literature category and achieved an A.
