About Karan

I am a banking professional who has lived and worked in the UK for 10 years. Prior to that I worked with an MNC in the Indian retail banking sector.

During the course of my work in the UK I have done:
Mergers & Acquisitions advisory work for Ernst & Young; and
Investment analysis for a $1 billion fund for Société Générale, a French investment bank.

I have always been passionate about training junior colleagues at work.

Other than my professional experience, I have a wide variety of interests ranging from playing the violin, writing, world culture, spirituality and English literature. My work has taken me to the US, Brazil and Europe. I believe all these interests and experiences help create interesting perspectives during teaching.

About the lesson

I'm well suited to teach young professionals who are interested in applied investment banking, private equity and/or financial modelling. But I can help students with conceptual or real world knowledge as well.

I believe that one needs to depart from the text book into real world examples, to make learning an engaging and exciting process. Concepts do help make sense of the real world and serve as analytical tools. We will not ignore them, but will aim to apply them to the real world.

Above all, I will encourage the student to think for herself or himself, because that will remain with the learner long after the lessons have finished.

Finally, I don't believe learning has to be a very serious process and it can be light and fun!
