About Maria

My name is Maria, I am 20 and originally from Dublin. After finishing my leaving certificate I moved to Munich for a gap year and fell in love with the city and German culture. I have always had a pull for German, it was one of my favourite subjects in school and I knew it would play an important role in my life. I have spent the last couple of years perfecting my German and received my certificate of fluency earlier this year. I now study and work in German here in Munich :) would really recommend every and anyone to visit if you get the chance! Learning German for so long has really given me a great insight on the best ways to master the language and I completely understand it's not the easiest but can confidently say persistence and consistency in learning the language really pays off! Having an extra language under your belt is something you will be forever grateful for.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring German is built upon a two-fold foundation: a strong focus on exam technique and a commitment to instilling confidence in the language for real-life application. Having studied German for over a decade, including school courses, language exchanges, and living in Germany for the past two years, I bring a deep understanding of the language and culture to my teaching. I believe that while exam preparation is crucial, fluency and practical usage are equally important. My techniques involve tailored exercises, real-world conversational practice, and a systematic breakdown of grammar and vocabulary. I began teaching German three years ago at an ELC German language camp, and since then, I have consistently helped family friends with their language skills. My typical lessons run between 45 minutes to an hour, allowing for effective learning and engagement. With my strong academic background, having received an H1 in my Leaving Certificate, I am particularly well-equipped to guide sixth-year students in achieving their academic goals or surpassing them. My lessons are open to learners of all ages and levels, aiming to empower them not only for exams but for confident, practical use of the German language in their everyday lives.
