About Silvia

Passionate and enthusiastic Italian and Spanish Teacher. I offer private langue classes to all levels, A1 - C2

ITALIAN TUTOR CREDENTIALS
I hold a DITALS ‘Teaching Italian as a foreign language' certificate from University of Siena, (Italy). I studied “language teaching” and I’ve been trained for all the Italian levels at ‘Torre di Babele’, one of the oldest and more important Italian schools for foreign speakers in Rome. I have lots of experience in private lessons in Italy and UK.

I graduated in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy with distinction (110/110 cum laude), at "La Sapienza University of Rome". With a thesis on the connection between theatre and poetry which has been in part published on the Contemporary Theatre and Cinema Magazine in Italy (‘Teatro e Cinema Contempraneo’, Magazine number 15 of May 2013 ).

I obtained a Diploma in Acting in Rome, at ‘Centro Studi Acting’ so I have a thorough knowledge of Italian diction which I am able to teach in my classes.

SPANISH TUTOR CREDENTIALS
I grew up bilingual having a Spanish-speaking mother from Argentina. I also spent few months living and working in Barcelona (Spain), where I refined my accent and grammar, which differs slightly from Argentinian Spanish.

Besides Spanish being my second language, I also studied it at the University, in Rome passing the language exam with 30/30.

I usually plan my lessons and I like to find make them enjoyable. I’d be pleased to know whether you would like to learn Italian or Spanish and build the lesson around topics that might interest you. We can also use supporting digital resources to make learning grammar more enjoyable, if you’d like to. I believe in the Communicative Method and I really think it is more easy learning new languages if you have a good time doing it. I can also offer conversation classes to improve your speaking ability and pronunciation. If you’d like save your money we can arrange small groups of students to share the cost.

Deadly! Best Italian Tutor!
Silvia is a great tutor, ready to help her students in all the possible ways. She is very flexible with the content, and if I needed to prepare for any specific topic she was very willing to help me with the content, vocabulary and etc for all the topics(even global warming)! It was a true pleasure to be tutored by such an amazing and warm person like Silvia. Her methods when teaching are in fact very effective, and with her help I performed very well in my Italian Oral Exam. Truly the best!

I gave her little notice but in the little time we had she was able to analyse the text effectively and thoroughly, although she hadn't encountered it before that day, and to help me improve accordingly. She has a very good understanding of the acting techniques and she has an ability to analyse the characters and the scenes from a psychological point of view, which helps making the right choices when portraying the character on stage.
It was one of my first attempts at acting, so I was quite nervous, but she made me feel at ease and used the right words to correct me without making me feel self conscious, and I went to the audition feeling more able and empowered.

I found Silvia's lessons to really useful with emphasis on conversation as i'd asked.Through various references including pictures and texts i assimilated useful phrases and vocabulary, more than doing things the old fashioned way.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a language tutor.

I've really enjoyed the lessons that I have had so far with Silvia. She is a great teacher and makes you feel very comfortable and is very encouraging - this has definitely helped with my confidence. I have picked the language up quite quickly so far and I believe that this is due to her method of teaching, which is very interactive. I am looking to travel Latin America and Silvia is great at understanding the different nuances between the way people speak which is always helpful to know.
