About Giulia

I am a native Italian speaker and am currently studying Law with History in Canterbury. I have previously studied in an Italian-speaking “Liceo”, where I could further develop my language skills and consistently obtained particularly good results in both my mother tongue and in English, and more in general in languages and humanities. Having at least a good knowledge of English, Spanish and French, I was able to do several small translations to and from Italian. Throughout my life, I have also had the fortune of meeting and being friends with several Italian learners of various levels, which allowed me to develop and understanding of the process and a teaching method almost subconsciously. I look forward to helping you along your journey to learn another language, which I know from experience to be a personally, academically, and professionally enriching one.

About the lesson

What language learner has not spent hours on lists of vocabulary or on a particularly tricky conundrum that their teacher insisted on calling a grammar rule? If any, they certainly are a few lucky ones.
Sadly, I cannot provide you with the magical cure for that: vocabulary and grammar are, of course, at the basis of any language. Just try going a day without prepositions or conjugating verbs. Yes, it’s all necessary and it should never be ignored. Instead, it is important that the student be able to apply this newly-acquired knowledge practically, avoiding the tedious and time-consuming process of memorising tons of information that seems to remain just that.
I truly believe that speaking in the taught language, keeping in mind the level of the student, can be greatly beneficial to any learner in this sense, as well as allow for a more intuitive and personalised learning experience, keeping especially younger students engaged. Its importance and use only increase as the student gains a more substantial understanding of the language, making it the pillar of the language-learning process.
Then again, my role is to allow you to develop your linguistic skills in the way you most see fit. Therefore, my approach to teaching varies based not only on the age and level of the student, but on their goals, requirements and preferences. Whether your objective is to prepare an exam, practice your fluency, improve your pronunciation, acquire a new work skill, or learn the very basics of the language, I will make sure to guide your experience in the right direction for your needs, while allowing you to be as comfortable as possible.
