About Nicola
I decided to teach Italian as a foreign language when I was 23. Since then, my entire education path and professional career has evolved around this field.
I graduated from the University for Foreigners of Siena with a master's degree in Linguistics, specializing in Italian Language Didactics for Foreigners. I also earned a II level DITALS certificate in Italian teaching.
I started teaching at the University for Foreigners of Siena, then I moved to Buenos Aires to teach at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. After two years, I moved to Barcelona (Spain), where I became an educational coordinator of an Italian Language and Culture private school. I'm currently living in Italy, teaching Italian as a foreign language in a public school for adults.
Besides mere teaching, I gained professional experience in authoring, copywriting and training: while I was in Barcelona, I started collaborating as editor and author (see Traguardo CILS B2 and Al Dente!) With a publisher called Casa delle Nazioni; I also trained teachers in Argentina, in Spain and in Italy.

I have taught to lots of different nationalities with any kind of previous education (from illiterate immigrants to high-education professionals), at any starting level (from pre-A1 to C2).
Methods vary depending on what results learners need to achieve. For instance: an inductive perspective of learning grammar and textual abilities, if the focus is on written skills; project-work method if the learner needs to carry out tasks in every-day life environment; specific cognitive training if the short-term goal is to earn a linguistic certification (CILS, CELI or PLIDA).
Every teaching-learning path starts from learner's needs: once analyzed motivations and specific needs during our first class, I'll plan and focus on priorities, in terms of domains, texts, abilities and skills.
Learner is in the center of that path, the teacher is the guide.
So, depending on your learning needs, these are the kind of classes I'm available for:
- communication focused on the four main abilities;
- conversation, to improve your fluency, vocabulary and pronunciation;
- specific training for official certification exams (CILS, CELI, PLIDA).
