About Alfie
You might be asking why the lessons fees are so low. This is because I have no actual qualifications yet - I am currently a 3rd year Japanese, TESOL and Linguistics student on his study abroad year - at home, because COVID ruined my opportunity to go in person. I speak enough Japanese that I can teach it to beginners, and I am actually required to do so before the academic year ends; if I don't, I fail the year at my home university. By offering you lessons for a very cheap price, you are also 'paying' me by allowing me to complete my work module and advance into the last year of my course.

My lessons are for absolutely anyone who is a beginner to Japanese. Whilst fluent reading of hiragana and katakana is preferred to make the lessons easier, I would be more than happy to aid you in memorising them.
My lessons range between 1 and 2 hours and focus on building your confidence. This means a lot of interacting in Japanese - this will be done in ways like reading scripts or completing listening activities, but you will also be asked to complete writing and grammar activities as well.
My lessons focus primarily on very simple everyday discussions, such as talking about your family, how to plan a day out with your friends, the weather etc. I'm sure you can agree, learning these fundamentals first is very important. I use a variety of books to construct the lessons, such as Marugoto and Minna no Nihongo - don't worry, you will NOT be required to buy these books.
I am confident in my skills as a tutor to help you. In sixth form, I tutored two GCSE students for English Language because they were failing at the time, and by the end they managed to pass the exam, and I am very proud of them both. Whilst a different subject, I believe the way I teach is the key to success.
