About Elena
I am a polyglot and social science academic currently engaged in Honours research in Anthropology with a mind to complete a PhD thereafter. With ample experience learning several languages through a range of learning encounters, I am well versed in the diverse ways individual learn, and overcome difficulties learning languages. I already have experience teaching beginner French language, including speaking; pronunciation and fluency, reading & writing; grammar and translation of text, and, listening with comprehension, to university students.
My first language was Spanish, followed by Swedish. At school I learnt English and French. Having lived in Australia for 30 years, my English is akin to that of a native English speaker. In addition to having family in France, I have studied French at university and in New Caledonia, achieving High Distinction in my French major.
Moreover, the intense language training for defence purposes that I underwent, learning fluency in Indonesian language in only 20 weeks, shows advanced insight into how to learn a language.

My teaching method is a combination of various approaches depending on the learner. I incorporate for instance; Krashen's Natural Method, in which correction of mistakes are deemphasised in favour of exposing the student to language that is comprehensible or made comprehensible, to engage them in the same way that a first language was learnt; Communicative Language Teaching, in which the student learns to adapt to, and communicate in situations he/she is likely to experience; Task-based Language Teaching where the focus lies in what is interesting to the students. Regardless of method used, I emphasise strong vocabulary skills, with grammar allowed to develop over time. Learning to should be fun and tailor made to each unique learner!
