About Joey
Hi, I'm Joey! I'm passionate about teaching and learning Japanese. I graduated from Carleton College (ranked #6 liberal arts school in the nation and #1 in undergraduate teaching by US News) with a degree in Japanese Language and Literature (with distinction) as well as Computer Science. I also studied Japanese abroad in Doushisha University (top Japanese college) and served as the Japanese department representative for both institutions. During my time at Carleton, I became the first student in the school's history to begin studying Japanese in college and to pass the JLPT N1 (highest foreigner Japanese proficiency exam) before graduating. For part of my senior thesis, I translated a novel from Japanese to English and have previously worked on movie translations. I also co-host a Japanese-English Bilingual podcast. I mention all of the above to establish credibility, but to be honest, I don't place any value in prestigious schools nor tests. I learned and help others learn Japanese, because I love Japanese. As simple as that.

5. Review and revise your plan accordingly as need be, answer questions, provide resources, and whatever else you may need.
I have tutored people of all ages (kids to adults, 6-60+) online and in person, and am completely comfortable with both!
