About John

My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for music. From the most academic mind bending theories of harmony, to just being able to sing and strum. Whatever someone’s aim is, I’ll make sure that music becomes a lifelong companion, whether it be as a hobby or future career.

About the lesson

John has studied music since the age of 7, with his first instrument being piano. That became a springboard into taking on saxophone at 10 and guitar at 12. When he was 15, he was accepted into a performing arts high school, focusing on instrumental music. In this time, he delved into music theory books and classical guitar to hone his skills and creativity. After graduation, he began college as a composition major, and earned a bachelor’s degree in said concentration in 2023.

John’s teaching style is very analytical, delving into the building blocks of guitar, and the theory behind each piece of music being taught. This will eventually give students the skills to improvise, develop their own songs, and learn the skills needed to become their own teachers.
