About Michele
I’m a writer, photographer, art director, and mentor with a passion for storytelling and language. My career has taken me from editing features at NPR and The Wall Street Journal to teaching creative workshops in Nepal, where I helped students express their ideas in English through photography and film. I believe learning a language is most effective when it’s personal, creative, and connected to the real world.

I use a story-based, immersive approach that blends reading, conversation, and creative exercises. We work with real-world materials (news articles, cultural pieces, and even visual prompts) to strengthen comprehension, expand vocabulary, and develop confident speaking and writing skills. I focus on practical English for everyday use and on expressive language for academic or creative purposes.
A Typical Lesson
Warm-up: 5–10 minutes of guided conversation to activate vocabulary
Reading and discussing an engaging text (news, literature, or a topic you’re passionate about)
Skills focus: Grammar in context, idioms, pronunciation tips, or essay structuring
Application: Creative or real-world exercise (e.g., writing a short article, preparing a presentation, analyzing a photo essay

My own story — growing up with limited access to media (despite growing up in the 2000s my childhood was quite controlled) and then building a career in international journalism — means I deeply understand the challenges and triumphs of mastering a language.
