About Michelle

I am a kind and dedicated tutor with 6 years experience teaching children aged 5-12. I teach Maths and English, with a firm grasp of the national curriculum to ensure your child gets up to and stays at the expected level. I also come with extensive track-record in prepping children for 11+, to great success. Previous pupils have even been awarded scholarships to their school of choice. The above means I also teach Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I pride myself on being encouraging and nurturing, whilst gently challenging my students. It is my solid belief that each child is capable. For me, reward lies in watching a student's self-confidence grow week on week. There is nothing like watching the lightbulb go off. I also have experience teaching children with Special Needs and Autism.

About the lesson

Each lesson will be planned in advance but I take a flexible approach when actually sat down with the student, tweaking as we go based on areas I observe need a bit more work. I also like to ask a student what they are currently learning at school, and plan classwork in line with this both to reinforce their knowledge and build on it, if the area in question is already solid.

There is no such thing as a "silly" question! Any holes in knowledge are met with patience and understanding and only a desire to fill them. I can often be heard saying "there is a time we all don't know."

Homework will be given each week and marked the following.
