About Lucy
I’m a dedicated tutor currently studying for a Degree in Primary Education with QTS, and I’m passionate about helping young learners grow. As someone who needed extra support at school myself, I understand how challenging – and sometimes overwhelming – learning can feel. This experience has shaped me into a patient, understanding tutor who knows how to encourage even the most hesitant learners. I take pride in creating a calm, positive environment where children feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. My approach is warm, structured, and child-centred, helping every learner feel seen and supported. With hands-on experience working in KS1 classrooms, I bring professional insight, up-to-date training, and a genuine love for teaching. My Approach to Tutoring I focus on creating a supportive, engaging learning environment where children feel confident to try, learn, and make mistakes. My teaching is hands-on and interactive, using a mix of phonics games, reading activities, writing prompts, and spelling strategies tailored to each child’s needs. I regularly assess progress to ensure lessons remain personalised and effective. Teaching Methodology: - I follow a structured but flexible approach: - Begin with a quick warm-up or recap - Introduce or revisit a skill using clear, simple modelling - Guided practice with support - Independent tasks to build confidence - A short reflection to celebrate progress I use positive reinforcement, visual resources, and multi-sensory techniques, especially for phonics and early reading. Lesson Length: Lessons typically last 20-35 minutes, depending on the child’s age and attention span. Shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on your child's needs! Qualifications & Experience: I am currently studying for a Degree in Primary Education with QTS, and I have experience working with KS1 children in school settings. This includes supporting phonics, reading, writing, and spelling in both one-to-one and small-group environments. Who My Lessons Are For: My tutoring is ideal for KS1 learners (ages 5–7) who need support with early literacy skills, confidence-building, or extra practice alongside school learning.
