About Kyla
Tutoring is something I happened upon because I was always helping my friends' kids with their homework. While I tutored in high school and college, I never considered doing it beyond helping my friends' kids, but the word got out about how much their kids felt comfortable, understood, and enjoyed themselves. I have a degree in history but I also studied several languages for several years. I am currently tutoring in math, vocabulary, and writing. I currently work as a writer and a painter and would love to help your children in any way I can. My poetry has even been used as curriculum in high schools and colleges in multiple countries, so writing is my forte. My humor helps to put people at ease, inviting a much smoother and enthusiastic learning process for students.

I feel like so many subjects are interconnected and my teaching/tutoring style reflects that, while still maintaining necessary focus.
I want my students to feel comfortable and enthusiastic as the lessons are not for me, but rather for them and my approach is a reflection of that. I instruct with a balance of firmness and empathy. I want my students to think, not just know.
My instruction is based on the student's skill level and pace. With some students, I am solely instructing with course materials, and with others I am providing supplementary assistance and extra support.
