About Maria
I am an undergraduate Law LLB student and during my earlier academic career, I was highly enthusiastic about English and Drama. I was passionate about conveying meaning from the literary world into our own and searching for deeper meanings; never taking words at face value. This is why I branched into Law, as the ability to interpret and apply these heavily regarded combinations of words that we call statutes, common law, and summarily legislation, is highly captivating.
Teaching English to children sporadically over the past few years has shown me that this passion I have for words and literature is something I should invest in; it is a skill that deserves nurturing due to my talent and success rate. Furthermore, experiencing the rewarding factor of seeing the lawyers, journalists, and authors of tomorrow take their first step towards their bright futures, whether it be passing their end-of-term tests or even SATs, is absolutely admirable.

English:
My approach to tutoring is modern, interactive, and practical. With exercises including group work and presentations- pupils will have a range of ways to consolidate their knowledge from my 1 hour lessons.
I have experience tutoring ks1-2 pupils in areas such as phonics, spelling, writing, and reading comprehension- and I am now familiarising myself with ks3 areas such as critical readings, persuasive writing, and texts including Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas carol and Stone Cold.
Drama:
Drama, GCSE, and A-Level students are who my drama lessons are for. These lessons are an hour long and focus mostly on theory components: texts, essay writing, and conveying interpretations from a stimulus.
For pupils who require direction in the practical element, I have a 'Drama and Physicality' series focusing on skills including facial expressions, body language e.g. posture, vocal tone & pitch, and proxemics. This is to help students develop a better understanding of how to capture the audience and tell a visual story through acting.
