About Miray

I am a 20-year-old Law student living in the UK. I am from Belgium, but I have learnt English at a very young age. The reason I wish to teach English is that I, myself, have a very strong passion for learning languages. I am fluent in five languages and thoroughly enjoyed learning them. I was lucky to have great teachers and tutors, and therefore, wish to be able to help and support other learners in the same way that I was. I have been tutoring others in English for five years now, including International students at my boarding school in England. I have taught all levels of students, such as those who knew very little English, to those that were fluent, but wished to improve their professional vocabulary.

I believe I am a great teacher because I, myself, know what it is like to learn new languages. Therefore, I have a great knowledge of which methods work best and can really understand the student.

I tailor my lessons to the individual needs and wishes of my students. My techniques are varied, meaning I utilise many different and engaging methods to teach my students. I place great focus on oral practice, which I believe is the key to mastering a language. If my students are unaware of the teaching methods that best suit them, I will identify this for them, so I can teach each student as successful as possible.

My lessons are suited for all age ranges. I have different packages I teach, which all include written, listening and oral practice (as a guide- but this is adaptable and customisable by the student):

BEGINNER: Teaching the very basics of English, including all the different tenses, grammar, and everyday necessary language.

INTERMEDIATE: Teaching more nuanced areas of English, including more difficult vocabulary, tenses, grammar, and focusing on literary understanding. Also focuses on being able to engage in detailed conversation.

PROFESSIONAL: Teaching 'business English', suited for those wishing to expand their professional vocabulary (suitable for the workplace).

CULTURAL: Teaching the cultural aspects of the United Kingdom/America in English. Here, I teach the student about history, culture, politics and society (of either the UK or America) in English, so the student can expand their cultural awareness whilst also learning the language. This is a very enjoyable and rewarding method of teaching, best suited for those that already possess a basic understanding of English.

The typical length of my lesson depends on however long the student needs. Usually, I work in slots of 1 to 3 hours, but this is dependent on the individual requests of the students. (I have found that 1-2 hours at the least works the best for most students.)

I am currently a 20-year-old university Law student, meaning I am familiar with an incredibly large range of professional vocabulary. I have scored highly on my English examinations at school: A* on GCSE English Language and Literature and a high A on my English Literature A-Level. I have also written a novel, meaning I have an extremely strong knowledge of literary language.

Please contact me for more details on the different packages.
