About Kimberly
I'm Kimberly. I'm an interior designer with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from San Francisco State University and professional experience in high-end residential design. My work focuses on technical drawings, space planning, millwork, and construction documentation, using AutoCAD to translate design concepts into clear, accurate, and professional drawings.
Early in my career, I was fortunate to have a mentor who taught me not only how to use AutoCAD, but also how to approach drafting with the precision and attention to detail expected in the design industry. That experience had a lasting impact on me, and I want to help other students and emerging designers develop that same confidence in their skills.
I understand that learning AutoCAD can feel overwhelming at first, especially when you're trying to keep up with coursework, develop a portfolio, or prepare for your first design job. My goal is to make the learning process approachable, engaging, and relevant to your goals. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your existing skills, I'll meet you where you are and help you build a stronger technical foundation at your own pace.
I believe great design is supported by strong technical communication. If you're ready to strengthen your AutoCAD skills, improve your drawings, or take the next step in your interior design journey, I'd love to help you get there.

My teaching approach is practical, patient, and tailored to each student's goals. As a graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, and a practicing interior designer specializing in high-end residential projects, I understand how important strong technical skills are in both design school and professional practice. I benefited from having a mentor early in my career who taught me how to use AutoCAD according to industry standards, and I want to share that same kind of guidance with others.
My teaching method
I believe the best way to learn AutoCAD is by doing. Rather than simply explaining commands, I walk students through real-world drafting exercises and demonstrate how individual tools fit into a professional workflow. I break complex tasks into manageable steps, explain why certain drafting methods are used, and encourage questions throughout each session. My goal is to help you understand the reasoning behind the process so you can work independently and confidently.
What a typical lesson looks like
We begin by discussing your experience, current projects, and learning goals. From there, we focus on the skills that will make the biggest difference for you. Depending on your needs, we might practice drawing and editing, organize layers and lineweights, refine dimensions and annotations, draft floor plans and interior elevations, develop millwork details, or prepare drawings for plotting and presentation. We review your work together, identify opportunities for improvement, and finish with clear takeaways you can apply independently.
What sets me apart
My experience in high-end residential interior design allows me to connect AutoCAD skills to the standards and expectations of the design industry. I can help you look beyond whether a drawing is technically correct and consider whether it is clear, organized, detailed, and communicates design intent effectively. I want you to develop both technical confidence and a stronger understanding of what makes a drawing professional.
Who my lessons are for
I work with interior design students, beginners, emerging designers, and freelancers who want to build their AutoCAD skills. Whether you're starting from scratch, working on a school assignment, strengthening your technical foundation, improving your drafting workflow, or preparing portfolio drawings for internships and professional opportunities, lessons are adapted to your current level and objectives. You don't need to know everything before getting started; just bring your questions, your goals, and a willingness to learn!
