About Alex

I'm an absolute geek for all things Tech and programming. I love finding odd, peculiar bugs, those miniature puzzles that turn up in our code and finding ways to solve them. I'm excited by those 'aha!' moments that coding gives us and I hope to inspire you with the same.

In my personal life I enjoy using code to make Generative Art. I've built and maintain several websites and full stack database tooling for corporates and charities. I'm an incessant tinkerer who can often be found diving into the depths of Artificial Intelligence, Game Development and armature mechatronics. But mostly, I teach.

My Qualifications and experience:
Current Head of Department for Digital Technologies in a school of 1500+ students. I hold an honors degree from Massey University and a Post Graduate Diploma of Teaching from Waikato University. I am a fully registered teacher with 12 years teaching experience.

Coding, programming, and digital technologies are at the forefront of changes to modern life and education. That’s why it’s important for students of all ages to learn these skills as they become ever more essential.

No matter what your age or level of experience, I can teach you the skills you need to succeed in the digital world.

Lessons focus on intermediate and High School age students, years 7 - 13 who want to further themselves in the Digital Technologies curriculum. Lessons are taught online during term time.

Intermediate age students focus on block coding, which is a great introduction to the world of coding and programming. They learn the fundamentals of how to create instructions for a computer to follow, and how to debug and troubleshoot their code while having fun along the way.

Junior High School students move on to learning languages such as Python, JavaScript as well as basic web development. They learn how to build more complex programs and applications, and how to work with real-world data.

Advanced students go even further, learning the basics of AI, Computer Science concepts and networking. This allows them to be at the forefront of the latest advancements in the field of technology.
