About Rita
Hello! I am an experienced tutor with enthusiasm and attention to detail. I have a great understanding of communication and my particular skill is connecting with people, helping them talk and break through shyness. I'm very good at simplifying information, explaining things in a funny and easily-absorbed way. I spot written mistakes very quickly and I can be very helpful in learning how to reason through and structure an essay. Similarly, if you need help with verbal reasoning or debating, it is something I can help with; I am experienced in improvised solo performance.
Lessons
I structure my lessons depending on the client’s needs. Practically, it means that if you want to be more confident in your speech, I will happily coach you with custom-made exercises; if you need help with written work or assignments, I can easily do that, too. To begin with, especially, I tend to create lessons around student’s preferred topics: I often propose analysing lyrics of favourite songs or films and utilise various media, like fragments of films and TED-talks. That way, absorbing language can happen almost subconsciously. However, I do place importance on grammar and spelling – a solid knowledge base is a must.
Qualifications
I have an MA degree in Literature and Film Studies. I have studied in Poland and Netherlands (in English) and am comfortable helping people at a degree level in both languages. I am also a writer (again, in both languages), comfortably producing essays, poetry and plays. Finally, as a performer, I am able to help with confidence coaching and general performance and speech-related queries (pronunciation etc.).
