About Joanna

- Currently working as an English trainer in a profession training center in Paris, I have been giving individual and group lessons for the past 7 years to learners of all ages, levels A1 to C2

- I have experience with several types of different courses: learning games for children, tutoring for teenagers, and discovery, refresher, or perfecting classes for adults

- I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Valparaiso University in the US and a Master's Degree in Linguistics from Paris Diderot University

About the lesson

For me, it’s important that my learners not only work on vocabulary and grammar, but also that they succeed in getting past any blockages that they may have and especially that they have fun learning and speaking! So I’m careful to create a positive and playful atmosphere starting at the very first lesson.

I begin by evaluating the student’s level and defining his or her objectives. I then choose an approach which is tailored to the individual’s situation: guided conversation, role plays, grammar or listening exercises, etc.

As much as possible, I use authentic documents and I favor an immersive approach where we communicate principally in English. For beginners, the transition to communicating solely in English can be made progressively over the course of several lessons.
