About Maëla

Hey! I’m Maëla — French-born, science-trained, and three years into my Aussie adventure. I’ve swapped baguettes for sunshine and now call Subiaco home for good. I’ve got a Master’s in Biology, a soft spot for quirky animals, and a big love for language, art, and travel.

I’ve been teaching French for over a year now, with five awesome students preparing for FLE exams or gearing up for trips to France. I love mixing grammar with good conversation.

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, fun, and tailored to you — whether you're prepping for the FLE, planning a trip to France, or just want to finally understand what French people are mumbling in movies.

Each session has a theme we dive into, mixing grammar, pronunciation, culture, and loads of real-life expressions. It’s all about making French feel natural, useful, and enjoyable.

A few things I offer:
– Most lessons are 1-hour sessions, but I’m happy to do 2 hours if you’re keen.
– For those with more time and motivation, I can give homework to help you progress faster.
– In the first session, we’ll do a few short exercises to assess your level. Then, every month, we’ll do a quick recap to track your progress.
– The first 30-minute session is free, so we can chat about your goals and how you like to learn!

I also have access to a quiet study room in my Subiaco apartment complex, if you'd prefer in-person lessons in a relaxed space.
