About Svenja
I am a native German from Hamburg living in beautiful South Africa. For the past 4 years I have successfully been teaching German to teenagers and adults worldwide for a global language school, a German NGO and privately.
What I love most about teaching German is working with people from all over the world and seeing them progress towards their learning goals at their own pace.
With a background in Social Work, I bring the patience and empathy necessary for creating a relaxed and supportive learning environment free of fear.
Feedback from the several hundred students I have taught so far includes that they feel relaxed and motivated in my lessons and like the way I explain and engage with them.

I teach all levels of German (A1 to C2) to teenagers and adults and always tailor my lessons to my students' specific needs.
A lesson with me typically includes a variety of speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises with an emphasis on the area the student would like to improve in most.
My teaching approach is immersive and interactive with lots of student speaking time and fun role plays to practise speaking German in real-life situations.
I can also accommodate more specific learning needs, e.g. German for care workers, Business German, preparation for job applications as well as exam preparation.
