About Emily
I am an experienced ESL teacher whose previously worked for an English school in Brazil. I specialize in conversational English for newcomers to Canada, allowing my students to better understand Canadian English.
I am fluent in both English and Portuguese. I also speak functional French.

After having gone to Brazil knowing only grammatical Portuguese, I learned that grammatical correct version of a language is not always the one that will help us best adapt to a new country.
I focus my classes primarily on grammatically correct conversations while also teaching students how Canadians generally will speak English. Unlike some other classes, I will teach you how to effectively communicate in the English language while in Canada.
In group classes I offer a general English conversational activities and lessons while also teaching my students when and why Canadians will often speak in a way that is not grammatical.
Private lessons are customized to meet the student's exact learning goals.
