About Azusa

A Friendly Native Guide to Japanese Language and Culture

Hi there! I am a native Japanese speaker currently living in Dublin. I moved here to learn English and just completed my degree, so I know exactly how challenging it can be to learn a new language!

Although I am not a formal professor, I am a passionate ambassador for my home country.
Back in Japan, I spent a few years working in a professional environment after studied at university, which helped me master both casual daily conversation and polite, natural Japanese. My goal is to bridge the gap between "textbook Japanese" and the "real Japanese" spoken on the streets of Japan.

I am a patient, easy-going person (a bit shy as Japanese). Outside of tutoring, I enjoy cooking, reading (and love watching videos about dogs !!!), and sharing stories about life in Japan. I take my role seriously and am committed to helping you reach your goals, whether you are starting from zero or just want to polish your speaking skills.

About the lesson

My Approach and Methodology
I believe that learning a language should be fun and practical, not just memorizing grammar from a textbook! My lessons focus on "Real Japanese" — the kind of phrases and expressions we actually use in daily life in Japan. Whether you want to learn how to order food in Tokyo, understand your favorite anime without subtitles, or just have a casual chat, I will tailor each session to your interests. I will try to use a mix of conversation practice, visual aids, and cultural tips to make sure you feel confident and relaxed..

Typical Lesson Length
A standard lesson is 60 minutes, but I am happy to adjust this if you prefer a deeper dive. We usually start with a quick catch-up, move on to a specific topic(If you have one ) or useful phrase of the day, and end with a relaxed Q&A.

About me
As a native Japanese speaker living here in Dublin, I have a deep understanding of the nuances of our language and culture. While I don't hold a formal teaching qualification, I have experiences helping friends and language exchange partners improve their Japanese in a relaxed, informal setting. I am a patient listener and understand the challenges of learning a new language (I had the same for English)!
