About Jeevan

I am a professional bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) teacher with over 8 years of online and offline teaching experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Music with specialization in bansuri and have trained under respected gurus of the Banaras Gharana tradition. I have also cleared the UGC-NET exam, which certifies me as eligible for teaching at the university level in India. Since 2017, I have been teaching students across India, the USA, Europe, and now Canada, helping learners of all ages discover the beauty of Indian classical music through the flute. My students include children taking their first steps in music, adults learning for cultural connection, and advanced musicians preparing for stage performances. What sets me apart is my combination of authentic training, academic knowledge, and modern teaching methods. My approach ensures that every student receives not just technical training, but also develops a deep musical understanding and confidence. I am committed to maintaining the highest level of professionalism—always punctual, respectful of my students’ learning pace, and dedicated to their progress. My hourly rate reflects not only the lesson time but also the teaching material, preparation, and follow-up support I provide. Each student receives:

Structured lesson plans tailored to their level (beginner to advanced).

Digital practice material (recordings, notation, and exercises) after every class.

Use of tanpura, tabla/lehra tracks, and audio demonstrations during lessons to make the experience authentic.

Guidance between lessons (I respond to quick questions via email)

Professional training from a tutor with a Master’s degree in Music, Banaras Gharana lineage, and 8+ years of international teaching experience.

Unlike general flute teachers, I bring the specialized knowledge of Indian classical music on the bansuri, which is rare in Canada. My rates are set to ensure students receive high-quality, professional instruction while still being more affordable than the average flute lesson cost in Halifax (CAD 52/hr).
