About Declan
I have a BFA in Film Directing from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, one of the top film schools in the country. I love creating and collaborating and over the seven years I have been a filmmaker, I have found great skill in editing. I have many credits on IMDb as an editor. I have edited 30+ short films, two features, music videos, video essays, and more! I have taught filmmaking three consecutive years at UNCSA's highly competitive summer intensive and have found that teaching comes very naturally to me. I am excited to get to work!

As someone who attended a top film school, I know what works and doesn't work when teaching editing. So I have taken that into account in my lesson plans!
First, I need to know what you are looking for. Are you trying to learn the software? Is this your first time editing? Or are you looking to learn something specific? Or are you just trying to hone in on your skills?
Once we figure that out, we will begin. First we will discuss technique and what makes a good cut, then we will enter Premiere and talk basics. Once that is understood, we will move on to more intermediate and then advanced parts of the software.
I will have you cut footage from movies and tv shows, so you can see what we're discussing right then and there! I will then have raw footage I have filmed where you can make something from scratch. By the end of our lessons, you will be a natural :)
