About Crispian
I’m a dedicated violinist and educator with a passion for helping students discover the joy of playing the violin through ease, movement, and musical expression. My teaching is grounded in the Paul Rolland Method, which encourages natural posture, fluid motion, and a relaxed approach to technique. With years of experience guiding both children and adults, I tailor each lesson to the student’s unique pace and personality. I teach in English and Afrikaans, creating an encouraging, mindful learning space where beginners can develop confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love for music.

My beginner violin lessons are based on the Paul Rolland Teaching Method, which focuses on natural movement, balance, and ease from the very first lesson. This approach helps beginners develop comfort, coordination, and musical confidence while preventing tension.
I combine mindful, body-aware teaching with clear technical guidance, creating lessons that are structured yet creative. My goal is to help students play freely and musically while building a strong foundation in posture, tone, and rhythm.
Lessons are available in English and Afrikaans, and I work comfortably with children, adult beginners, and neurodiverse learners who appreciate a patient and adaptive approach.
A typical lesson includes:
Gentle warm-ups using Rolland-inspired movement
Step-by-step bow and left-hand work
Short, enjoyable pieces or creative exercises
This method are ideal for complete beginners to early intermediate players who want to learn violin with ease, confidence, and musical expression.
