About Julie
Hi there! I'm Julie, a native English speaker from Canada with over 20 years of experience in communications and public relations. My career has included leadership roles with some of Canada's top grocery, pharmacy, and beauty retailers, where I specialized in clear, effective communication across diverse audiences. Now based in Florence, Italy, I've transitioned my passion for language into tutoring English. I work with adult learners to help build confidence in speaking, listening, and writing—whether for business, travel, or everyday conversation. I also run fun, interactive English workshops for children, designed to spark curiosity and build a strong foundation in the language. I offer both structured lessons focused on grammar and vocabulary, as well as more relaxed, conversational sessions—depending on each student’s needs and goals. My approach is friendly, supportive, and always tailored to the individual. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to help you reach your English language goals in a relaxed, encouraging environment. A typical lesson begins with a warm-up conversation to assess your current level and focus for the session. From there, we might work on specific grammar points, expand your vocabulary, or practice writing skills. If you prefer, we can spend the entire lesson in conversation to improve your speaking confidence and listening comprehension. I always encourage questions and provide clear, patient explanations.
What sets me apart is my 20 years of experience in professional communications, which gives me a deep understanding of language structure and effective communication. I bring this expertise into lessons, helping you express yourself clearly and naturally. Plus, as a current language learner myself (studying Italian), I empathize with the challenges of mastering a new language and tailor my support accordingly.
My lessons are ideal for adults and young adults at all levels—from beginners to advanced learners—who want to improve English for business, travel, study, or personal growth. I also offer engaging workshops for children to build a strong foundation in English in a fun and interactive way.
