About Richard
I have a PhD in Engineering Science (UCC), a B.A. (mod) in Nanoscience, physics and chemistry of Advanced Materials (Trinity) and a PGCert in Statistics (Trinity). I have been giving grinds in maths, physics and chemistry for 10 years at both Leaving Certificate and Undergraduate levels, and work as a Postdoctoral researcher in UCC and part-time Lecturer in Chemistry in MTU.

I aim to provide grinds and lessons (1-2 hours) to Leaving Cert students who want to excel in STEM subjects and want to pursue them at 3rd level, whether you want to revise content or get a jumpstart on new areas. The Leaving Cert syllabi have lots of traps and pitfalls in these areas that waylay and confuse students because they lack surrounding context and underlying concepts that often aren't taught until the first year of college. I want to help guide students through these areas and drive their success. I believe in a student-led approach. The student can identify areas they need to work on to break through barriers in their understanding or crystallize their knowledge. I provide notes with worked examples and definitions, both from within and beyond the course syllabus to not only show the correct answer, but to also help you understand why it is the case.
