Find Your Ideal English Tutor in Kinsale

Leaving Cert English is demanding because it tests writing speed, critical thinking, and textual analysis under strict time limits.

The main challenges include:

• Time pressure — Balancing speed with coherent arguments is a core skill the exam rewards.
• Multiple text types — Each section demands a different writing style, from persuasive essays to literary critique.
• Critical engagement — Simply summarising a poem or play scores poorly; you must engage with language, imagery, and themes.

With the right preparation, even students who find English difficult can see real improvement.

The average price of English grinds in Kinsale is around €23/h per hour.

This rate can vary depending on several factors:

• The student's level (5th year vs 6th year)
• Years of grind experience and past results
• Lesson format (one-to-one or small group sessions)
• How often and how long (block bookings often come with discounts)

Booking a package of sessions usually lowers the hourly rate.

Leaving Cert English assesses four interconnected skill areas: comprehension, composition, language awareness, and literary analysis.

These are the core skills examined:

• Comprehension — Identifying rhetorical techniques like irony, contrast, and metaphor.
• Essay writing — Showing a distinct personal voice and varied sentence structure.
• Language awareness — Demonstrating sensitivity to word choice and rhythm.

Strong candidates show genuine curiosity about texts alongside exam technique.
